David shows the way!

Something stiff never goes amiss!

Posted on 10 Oct, 2013

While a stiff separate collar is almost a sine qua non of traditional attire, they are not that easy to come by in this modern world. However, help is at hand in the form of TAG member David (pictured), who is wearing a 'Sloane' collar from the Chancery Lane, London, shop of Ede and Ravenscroft.

Another convivial traditional gathering in prospect!

A fine body of gentlemen!

Posted on 12 Aug, 2013

You won't be required to wear a bowler hat for our events - unless you want to! Whatever your choice of formal and traditional attire, it is good that from time to time we can meet together and compare notes, or perhaps just enjoy some food and drink in convivial company.

Following the successful TAG House Party last year, we will be having a similar gathering on Saturday, November 16th, from 8pm onwards at a member's Edwardian house in north London.

Is good taste returning to menswear?

Modern in traditional style?

Posted on 6 May, 2013

Probably not - there have been many false dawns, when some more formal or traditional types of male attire seemed to be resurgent.
One recent example is a superb full page advert in an 'Observer' newspaper supplement.

Our second social - 8pm on Friday, November 16th

Traditional attire in traditional surroundings!

Posted on 28 Sep, 2012

For many of us Jermyn Street, London, is the centre of the traditionalist universe, so what could be more appropriate for our next venture, than a dinner in the charming restaurant' at 113 Jermyn Street,'Rowley's?(left).
Furthermore, their website states:
“Young fogeys” flock to this “totally retro” Traditional Brit “favourite” in St James’s for some pre- or post-theatre “white-linen dining”.

Long underwear takes a bow!

Ballet dancers work under cover

Posted on 21 May, 2012

This charming ensemble of lithe young men in traditional-style underwear can be seen this week (May 21-26,2012) at Sadlers Wells Theatre, London.
They are performing 'Spitfire', which matches a classic 19th Century ballet with the world of mens underwear ads - it looks fascinating!
This is an early work (1988) by Matthew Bourne, and celebrates his brilliant 25-year career - in style!.

Great success for first TAG social evening

Bowlers akimbo after an evening of delights

Posted on 13 Feb, 2012

Fortune smiles upon the virtuous but on February 11th, it was pretty good to us as well. After dire weather warnings, our first social gathering was blessed with a dry and delightfully cold night, so that three-piece tweed suits backed up by long woolen undergarments felt both appropriate and comfortable.

Our first Traditional Attire gathering

Some of those you might meet at a TAG Social!

Posted on 18 Dec, 2011

Good news! On Saturday, February 11th 2012, we will be holding our inaugural social event: a buffet social from 8pm at a member's Edwardian house in north London. There will be a strict dress code of country tweeds, formal city suits, or similar, but we are happy to offer advice on suitable attire.

White tie and black tie - elegance personnified!

Charles in white tie and Ian in black tie

The highlight of the Leamington Spa Weekend (described in the two items below) was undoubtedly the formal dinner in a private room at the excellent Angel Hotel. Pictured here are TAG member Charles (left), who attended in full white tie and tails - arriving and leaving in top hat.

David sets an example to us all

There's something about a man in a bowler hat!

Posted on 4 Nov, 2011

Traditional Attire Group members were well represented at the Suit & Tie Society weekend in late September at Royal Leamington Spa. One of the events was a professionally conducted tour of the town, between an excellent lunch and the black tie dinner that evening.

Traditional attire lingers in Leamington

A shop front as they used to be!

Posted on 3 Nov, 2011

It was a delight to find this traditional menswear shop in the centre of Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. Quite a few of us from TAG participated in the superb September away weekend our brother Suit & Tie Society held in the regency town, and sights like this sent the blood racing.
